Hello, We've got a great offer in honor of Independence Day and to say thank you for attending our class in the past. We'd like to offer your friends and family a buy-one-get-one deal on our upcoming permit to carry class on Sunday, June 29th. Send your loved ones to us, and we'll give them a sweet deal. The full class, with breakfast (AND lunch!), the book, and the range fee included. Don't tell Michael I offered this, but that extends to our veteran special price, too. We wouldn't have our freedom if it wasn't for our vets, and we want you all to know we appreciate it. Thanks, Jason P.S. If you have a moment, could you please give us an honest review on Yelp? It would mean the world to us.

Back to School Savings For Your Gun Rights
| |||||
Hello everyone! We've got a great deal for you. It's that time of year again. The weather is cooling, the days are getting shorter, and the kids are finally out of the house and back to school. To celebrate, we're offering a discount for our class this Sunday, September 22nd. If you take our class this weekend, it's $20 off. That means it's just $80 for a renewal, $100 for a first-time class, or $160 for a couple. That includes the book, breakfast, and the range fee! Come and take our class on Sunday. Forward this email to a friend (or even a stranger!). They'll thank you for it. Thanks, Jason & Michael P.S. We don't do sales often, so be sure to take advantage of this while you can.

Legal Fees and Free Ammo
| |||||
Hi, At Metro Defense Training, we aren't here to sell you anything or waste your time - we know you get plenty of that already. Occasionally, we run across a great deal, like a 1000 round ammo giveaway(more below), a great deal on guns, or a self-defense insurance program. When we do, we share. In class, when we discuss the consequences of having to use lethal force, one of the shocking points is the legal defense. If you have to use your gun to defend yourself, it's common for your legal defense bills to hit $10,000. If your case goes all the way to trial, you can expect to add another zero to that. That's a lot of money. A common question we hear is about self-defense insurance. Your personal liability insurance plan won't cover a shooting, because it takes exception to deliberate acts. A self-defense shooting isn't planned, but it can hardly be called accidental. What can you do? There is a company with a solution. The United States Concealed Carry Association offers a Self-Defense Shield, an insurance-backed program that will pay your legal fees in a justified shooting, up to $300,000. That much money is life-altering. Seriously, for a fraction of the cost of your car insurance, you can get protection if you have to defend yourself. Take a look here: http://www.metrodefense.com/uscca Membership also comes with a subscription to Concealed Carry Magazine, which is worth the price by itself. It's the only magazine geared strictly to people who carry guns for self-defense. You can check that out directly here: http://www.metrodefense.com/ccm On top of that, if you join or subscribe this month, you'll get entered in a drawing. The USCCA is giving away 1000 rounds of ammo every day in May. In the current ammo shortage, that's a great deal.
*********** Upcoming Class: June 23rd at 9:00AM. If you're interested or know somebody who is, please register here(http://www.metrodefense.com/schedule/). Price is $120 for an individual, which includes all range fees, breakfast, and a copy of Minnesota Permit to Carry a Firearm Fundamentals. *********** I've got a favor to ask. Over the years, we've had a lot of students come through our class. A lot of vets and a lot of people in some scary situations. We'd appreciate it if you would help us get the word out. It will take 2 minutes and won't cost you a cent. Could you please leave an honest review for us here or here?
Thanks, Jason & Michael

I've got a great deal on guns
| |||||
Hello everyone! I just want to take a moment and let you all in on a great deal: cheap(and good!) guns. Streicher's--one of the largest police supply shops in the the country--has offered a discount to our students. What kind of discounts? They are offering:
These guns are all new and, most importantly, they are most likely in stock. What does this mean for you? Two things. It means you get a great gun at a great price and it means that Metro Defense loves you. You heard me. Without you, we wouldn't be here doing what we love. Streicher's is helping show our appreciation. To take advantage of this deal, go here: http://www.metrodefense.com/gunflyer Print out that flyer and take it into the store. They will treat you like royalty and you'll leave with a great tool for your self defense toolbox. Thank you! Jason & Michael
P.S. Can you take a moment to dig out your permit and check the expiration date? If it expires before June 2014, you can take your renewal class. Here's a chance to defend your civil rights
| |||||
Last night in the Minnesota Senate, Senate Judiciary Committee Chair (an gun control bill author) Senator Latz pushed his nasty gun control bill through committee and refused to allow a vote for a competing bill, SF1359. Latz's bill punishes us, the law-abiding. The alternative bill will actually work to keep guns out of the hands of criminals without screwing the rest of us. Sen. Latz's heavy-handed authoritarian politics don't need to happen in Minnesota. Please take a moment and call his office this morning. There is another committee meeting at 11:30 and we can pressure him to get this on the agenda. Let's remind Senator Latz that we are living in a democracy! Leave a voicemail in his office at 651-297-8065. Here's what GOCRA (the Gun Owners Civil Rights Alliance) has to say: Minnesota demands a vote on SF1359Put the pressure: make two phone calls and send one email right away! Last night, Sen. Ron Latz (DFL-46) rammed his gun control bill through the Judiciary Committee (he's the chairman), and refused to take a vote on Sen. Julianne Ortman's (R-47) rights-respecting Criminal Control bill.The good Ortman good bill, SF 1359, has been the support of GOCRA, the NRA, the Minnesota Sherrifs Association, the Minnesota County Attorneys Association, and a broad, bipartisan legislative support, including more than half of the Minnesota House. Sen. Ortman's bill addresses criminals' use of guns. Sen. Latz's bad bill, SF458, attacks the rights of law abiding citizens, and would create unversal gun registration in Minnesota, send us back to the bad old days of "May Issue" purchase and carry permits, and strip gun owners of vital Due Process protections. Demand a vote!We need you to call Sen. Latz's office right this minute and demand that he put Sen. Ortman's SF1359 on the agenda of today's Judiciary Committee meeting. The meeting starts at 11:30 this morning, so we need you to call RIGHT NOW! Sen. Latz: 651-297-8065 If you can't get through, try his committee administrator: Cheryl Youakim: 651-296-4842 Whether you get an answering machine or a person, here's the short, clear message: Minnesota demands a vote on SF1359! When you've done that, please call your own senator with the same message, and ask the senator to contact Sen. Latz this morning. To make sure the message gets through, please also send an email message to Sen. Latz on his web page. Take action now! Don't let the rights-grabbing SF458 bill be the only option on the floor!

Metro Defense Training
You know we don't send many emails. This one is important.
Jason & Mike
Tell Governor Dayton to sign the Stand Your Ground bill
If you do only one thing for gun rights this year, this is it!
The Stand Your Ground bill passed the Minnesota House last year. It overwhelmingly passed the Senate last week. Now the bill is headed to Governor Dayton.
TODAY!
- Call Governor Dayton's office and ask him to sign HR1467, the Stand Your Ground bill.Metro: 651-201-3400Toll Free: 800-657-3717
- Write a real letter, on paper. These are incredibly effective in convincing a politician of how seriously we take an issue.
Governor Mark Dayton
130 State Capitol
75 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
St. Paul, MN 55155
Suggested language: "Please sign HF1467, the Stand Your Ground bill, today."
- Send an email: Go to the governor's web site at http://mn.gov/governor/contact-us/form/, and send the same message.
- Got a fax machine? Send a fax with the same message to 651-797-1850.
- Forward this to a dozen friends and ask them to do the same.
TOMORROW, AND EVERY DAY UNTIL HE SIGNS THE BILL!
- Do it again (see above)
HF1467/SF1357 Summary
HF1467/SF1357, the Defense of Dwelling and Person Act of 2011, brings “Stand Your Ground” protections to Minnesota, restores the presumption that a person using self defense is innocent until proven guilty, enhances Castle Doctrine, prevents the state from seizing guns during an emergency (remember Hurricane Katrina?), improves carry reciprocity with other states and requires the government to do its job to serve law-abiding citizens.
The full text of the bill can be found here: https://www.revisor.mn.gov/bin/bldbill.php?bill=H1467.2.html&session=ls87
Here's some more detail about the bill:
Adds Stand Your Ground
HF1467 brings "Stand Your Ground" protections to Minnesota, removing the requirement that an intended victim of violent crime must retreat from a place where he has a right to be before using deadly force in self defense.
Enhances Castle Doctrine
The bill also strengthens Minnesota’s "Castle Doctrine," clarifying when and under what circumstances individuals can legally use deadly force to protect themselves in their homes and vehicles. In addition, it creates a presumption that, when faced with an apparent home invasion, carjacking or kidnapping attempt, a person may use deadly force in self defense.
Adds Universal Carry Permit Acceptance
Of particular interest to carry permit holders, the final article of the bill updates our carry permit reciprocity standards, allowing people holding carry permits from any other state to carry in Minnesota (under Minnesota law, of course). This should result in a large increase in the number of states where Minnesota permit holders can carry, since many states allow other states’ permit holders to carry on a reciprocal basis.
Prevents Gun Seizures During a State of Emergency
Taking a lesson from the problems in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, the bill also bans government agencies from seizing guns or ammo, revoking permits to purchase or carry, closing gun shops, or otherwise suspending our constitutional rights during a civil emergency -- or at any other time. It also prohibits law enforcement officers from seizing a person’s gun, unless the person is arrested, or the gun is evidence of a crime.
Enhances Purchase Permit Rights
The bill also borrows a page from the Permit to Carry law, providing a more robust appeal process for denied purchase permits, and requiring that police chiefs and sheriffs whose purchase permit denials are overturned must pay the applicants' legal costs.
